There is a distinct difference between houseCLEANING and houseKEEPING!!
Housecleaning is getting down to the dirt and the grime. It involves scrub brushes and spray bottles and, occasionally, an old toothbrush. It involves getting up close and personal with your potties. It is the work that doesn’t need to be done every day, but should be done often enough that it doesn’t become an overwhelming task.
Housekeeping is all of the chores that should be done on a daily basis to KEEP your space maintained. These are things like picking up clutter, putting away laundry, doing the dishes, making the beds, taking out the trash, etc.
Nearly all of our residential clients hire us for houseCLEANING because they have the KEEPING part dialed-in, but it is important for our clients and our employees to understand the difference. We have learned from our own error that this difference is not common knowledge.
Let’s use a “totally hypothetical” scenario:
Let’s say someone like… I dunno… my boyfriend, wants to hire my team to come clean the house he and his brother own. We offer a price, it is accepted, and we send the team in to clean all the things! But then, we get a complaint! Hooray! What did we do wrong that we can learn from?!
The complaint is that we didn’t put stuff away, we didn’t clean the dishes, we didn’t put away the laundry… Well, shoot- That’s not what we thought we were hired for. So Korin and I vent a bit, but then we realize that we never took the time to truly understand what our client really needed. This complaint was legitimate, and it helped us identify an area to improve.
Out of this complaint came the inevitable gem of wisdom: our new client told us he wanted “The Mommy Treatment.” Bam!! Brain explosion!!
HouseKEEPING is all the things your mommy would do for you. If you feel like the The Mommy Treatment is exactly what you need to help you pass for a fully-functioning adult, we are so here to help, and we will keep it a secret.
